Helping Hands Vet Clinic

Tuesday, April 10 - Joy's guest will be Dr. G from Helping Hands Veterinary Clinic, one of our wonderful sponsors. This clinic is a full service vet hospital providing a blend of quality conventional and holistic medicine. They work with a wide variety of household pets including reptiles, small mammals and birds. They believe that quality medical care can be affordable. Helping Hands’ Doctors try to treat the cause of disease instead of just eliminating or suppressing symptoms. The clinic is very involved in the community. They have created an easy to read reference card listing common local toxic plants. These cards are distributed to over 20 garden stores and nurseries. They are involved in providing pet oxygen masks to local fire trucks. They supply doggie bags and dispensers to local dog parks. They work with difference school districts by providing pet care education to different age groups. A number of the employees did their internship at the clinic when they were in high school. With clinic hours Monday through Saturday and evenings, Helping Hands is accessible to everyone’s schedule. Location - 18415 33rd Ave West, Lynnwood, WA 98037 - Telephone # 425-672-4343. So much is in the news about the recalled pet food these days. Our wildlife friends also need our help. Starting the beginning of this month the Canadian seal hunt of about 270,000 seal pups (ages 12 wks. - 3 mos.) will be going on during the whole month of April. This hunt has been going on for years and needs to stop. The Humane Society of the United States wants people to boycott Canadian seafood. Maybe the hunters will stop the hunt if they know it will hurt them financially. There is a great deal of seafood that comes from NE Canada, and New Foundland (where the seal hunt takes place). There are several restaurants in the Puget Sound area that have pledged to boycott Canadian seafood, and also Whole Foods. (information sent in by a reader). To learn more about this, please visit the website, www.hsus.org/protect_seals.html.
